I am a licensed speech language therapist. I have a Master's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders, as well as a Bachelor's in Psychology with minors in Mandarin Chinese and Spanish.

Experience

My tutoring specialties: As a tutor, I specialize in teaching reading and writing, as well as working with students with disabilities. Not just communication or intellectual disabilities, either. I have a lot of experience working with children with mental disorders or illnesses, such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, and bipolar. With regards to reading, I love to teach students how to look at it in a different way. Instead of something to be feared, look at words like a puzzle! I literally have blocks I will use (even in telepractice) where we take apart and reshape words letter by letter, exploring how we can change them. My big big focus is on reshaping how students look at reading and themselves as readers. Bringing back that self confidence is critical! My work experience: I have worked as a speech therapist for a center school for students with special behavioral or medical needs (most with cerebral palsy or autism), for middle and high school "self contained" special education units, for a pediatric clinic ages toddler to high school, and as a home health speech therapist ages toddler to adult.
